2014 Esri India User Conference

Every year Esri India honors the work of Esri users in India via Making a Difference and Special Achievement in GIS (SAG) awards. Organizations that are honored span multiple domains from agriculture, forestry, cartography, climate change, defense and intelligence, economic development, education, government, health and human services, telecommunications, and utilities. Making a Difference award recognizes users who are doing a remarkable and extraordinary application for benefit of our society. SAG awards recognize users who have applied geospatial technology innovatively to address the needs of their industries and communities while defining GIS best practices.

Making a Difference Award

National Dairy Development Board was recognized for its WebGIS based decision support system (iDGIS) that has revolutionized how decisions are made for Dairy planning across India while bringing together all stakeholders up to village level thereby effectively using GIS technology for overall benefit. The unique highlight of the project is that for the first time the territory management was controlled at user level spatially.

Special Achievement in GIS (SAG) Award

Central Ground Water Board was recognized for implementing a new web GIS based eGEMS application that integrates static and dynamic data for representations of aquifers and wells/boreholes, 3D hydrogeologic models, temporal information, and data from simulation models. This when analyzed using different interpolation techniques enables creating informative reports for decision making.

Special Achievement in GIS award to Central Ground Water Board (CGWB)

Forest Survey of India was recognized for Web-GIS based Decision Support System (DSS) which is streamlining decision making processes while analyzing the potential impact of various activities on forest area, bio-diversity, tiger reserves and tiger corridors. The WebGIS system will significantly reduce the turn-around time as well as increase the transparency in the system.

Special Achievement in GIS award to Forest Survey of India (FSI)

Geological Survey of India was recognized for its comprehensive integrated system (OCBIS) that is mapping and integrating all its geoscientific and administrative processes / dataflow in missions and support systems. The system would also enable dissemination of integrated MIS report through the Web Portal and through mobile devices and facilitate real-time collaboration and interaction among all stakeholders.
