About
The Global South is facing an escalating climate crisis, with increasingly frequent and severe extreme weather events—heatwaves, floods, droughts, and sea-level rise—threatening ecosystems, infrastructure, and socio-economic stability. As these climate risks become more complex and interconnected, their impacts are no longer confined to environmental domains—they ripple across sectors including health, energy, urban development, and agriculture.
The International Global-South Climate Risk Symposium – Paving a Climate Resilient Future aims to convene a high-level dialogue on the urgent need for coordinated, data-driven, and inclusive climate risk governance. Hosted by IPE Global and Esri India, this symposium brings together government leaders, global experts, and civil society actors to co-develop pathways for building resilience in the Global South.
With a focus on managing extreme heat, leveraging geospatial intelligence, and advancing systemic innovations, the symposium will feature the launch of a key issue note titled “Weathering the Storm- Managing Monsoons in a Warming Climate”, and a landmark MoU signing. It will also showcase emerging tools such as the Climate Risk Observatory and host a panel discussion to unlock cross-sectoral strategies for climate adaptation and risk mitigation.
