Esri India User Conference

January 19 – 20, 2017 | The Leela Ambience Convention Hotel, Delhi

India’s urban population is projected to increase multi-fold as per McKinsey Global Institute (MGI) report. This growth would drive an urban expansion at a rate the country has never experienced before. Smart cities are essential to support the population growth and urban expansion in the future in a sustainable manner. Even recently, Indian Government had announced various initiatives such as Smart cities, AMRUT and Swachh Bharat across the country.

The smart city vision in India is already taking shape. Some of the cities are already leading the smart city initiatives, some are in process of realizing their vision. Irrespective of the stage a city is, key success factor for any smart city is managing the complexity of urban transformation, while being efficient, ensuring collaboration amongst all the key stakeholder departments in a city ecosystem while being transparent and open.

Location is a common denominator in every aspect of city development and management and hence a location platform i.e. a GIS based platform technology is at the ‘heart’ of every city. A common GIS platform could be used by all stakeholder departments to manage an end-to-end city development and management lifecycle while delivering services to businesses, departments and citizens in a transparent and efficient manner.

While use of GIS is imperative in most of the programs like Smart cities, AMRUT, still the understanding of GIS applications needs to be enhanced significantly. The use of GIS needs to be established as a discipline in all aspects of urban transformation since the very beginning i.e. from the planning stage.

Esri India in partnership with National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) is co-hosting a focussed summit on GIS for Urban Transformation. The summit during Esri India User Conference will provide an opportunity for key stakeholders leading and driving the smart city programs on how they can leverage GIS to define and realize their vision of a city. You may also join the plenary session of the Esri India User Conference to connect with business leaders and innovators just like yourself from other industries such as government, defense, public safety, academia and environment and see how they are leveraging GIS.
